The brunch bunch.

In an overcrowded kitchen, filled with twenty young people of Durban (the city I love most) and the smell of burnt bacon, I found happiness.

My handsome husband and I had the privilege of house-sitting our dear friends' abode this past week and what a blessing it was! Their beautiful home proved to be a place of rest, space, joy and fun for us.

On Sunday we, and some of the profound young people that we do life with, danced around the kitchen cooking breakfast; feasted around the dining room table; and spent the entirety of the afternoon in the lounge drinking endless cups of tea and chatting about life in all its forms.

All I can say is that community is something real. I never thought that something as simple as a spontaneous brunch with some radical people would be so fulfilling. It suddenly occurred to me that even though I had tried so hard not to get caught up by the busyness of my life; I indeed had. People are important to me, and I remembered that I needed community - that life is not meant to be lived out to be busy, nor is it meant to be lived out alone. People, gatherings and communication are good for me, and I needed to remember that.

So yay to all those breakfast gatherings and beautiful people in our lives that press pause on the 'daily routine machine' and remind us to breath in the lives around us and remember what makes us come alive.

But Don't Tell Anybody.

Sssssshhhhhh!
Here's a sneaky peak at my "Photo-a-Day" project so far (which, if you don't know about, is explained in my second ever post)...
I know it's not the end of the year yet, but seeing as we just passed the half way mark only just a glimpse ago (okay okay, a month ago now) I thought I would just wet those taste buds.

These splashes of colour, light and shadow speak of my year so far. They speak of memories and adventure, journeys and exploration. This year everything has been new to me; it's all been unknown ground... and beyond it's ups and downs, and it's here's and there's I have enjoyed looking at this year through an untouched lens and with absolutely no agenda.

A Puddle Of Mud.

A few weeks back a beautiful talented friend of mine asked Michael and I to be a part of her Multi Media Project; without hesitance I kindly accepted the challenge.
And yes, by challenge, I do mean one of the most AMAZING memories I shall ever have the privilege of holding oh so dear.

And yes, by Multi Media Project, I do mean a music video of one of the most beautiful songs by one of the most talented of musicians- our very own Matthew Mole.

My favorite part of this fun experience?
Why, I am SO glad you asked!!!
I got to spend this day with the man my heart calls home while a camera captured our Joy and laughter while we simply got to be "us".

Here is the beautiful artwork in its finality. As my readers, I do oblige to you look further than the alphabet letters of my link attached right below this sentence.

To fantastic Amy Hayward, and the wonderful Murphy Mcloughlin,
you ladies are so delightfully talented and truly gifted!

And to Amy, Murphy, Travis Cottrell (photographer), and my dearest Michael James (the most handsome man in my world),
Thank you for a day filled with fun and laughter, memories and open spaces for creativity to come alive!

All of which I live to dabble in.

A Pep Talk

Here's to those of you who are feeling a tad uninspired and insipid.
I would like to introduce you to a friend of mine.
This little guy put a splash of colour into my colourless day, and I would love to share the excitement with you.
Take a peep, I dare you.

A PEP TALK, FROM ME,
TO YOU

like a boss.

A Photo a Day Keeps The Doctor Away

Say 'Hello' to my very first blog project for Daisy & The Duke !
The aim of the game is to take at least one photo a day (hence the title) for the entire year and present it to you at the end of 2013 as a collage of adventures, memories, life-changing moments, and everyday objects that made up my 2013. Yes, I must admit that I'm a tad bit late with the launching of my project (seeing that it's the 9th day the year already) but as the wise say, "better it late than never".
Here's a sneak peak of some memories of last year that I captured in my heart, as well as through the lens.

So let the zooming, snapping and editing begin! Feel free to join me as I attempt to capture 2013 at it's finest.

Hi there, I'm new.

Dear Bloggersphere,

You will have excuse me while I stumble my way through the this' and thats' of blogging. My name is Kayley Jane and I'm new.

2013 Proposes a year of fresh and wild new beginnings for me, the small town Durban girl about to embark on her life's journey through the big and wonderful world. This is the year I say Goodbye to my buttercup yellow school dress and Hello to freedom, responsibility, untamed dreams and limitless possibility. As I stepped into January, I thought "There isn't a better way to say Hello to this beautiful season in my life than to start a blog to mark the beginning of a wild and divine adventure."

I am excited, to say the least, to explore and pursue my passions and interests and to scatter them across these pages in whichever way I please; to stick, cut and paste wherever my heart desires. So here I go, exploring my world of nonsense and dreams, that perhaps nobody might ever read , but as for me and this little heart - here's to a great season ahead.

Yours Kindly,
               Jane
